Easy Ways to Revamp Your Home's Curb Appeal

Mar 13, 2019

Before we know it, spring will be here putting an end to being cooped up indoors. With spring, comes much welcome warmer weather, perfect for spending a day outdoors with friends and family. Make sure the outside of your home is ready for spring get-togethers by revamping the curb appeal of your home. You want friends and family to get a warm and welcoming vibe when they approach your home. Below we have five ways you can give your home more curb appeal.

Clean-Up Your Lawn

Keep your lawn freshly mowed to add curb appeal to your home. Take some time before you'll be inviting friends over to pay attention to other details in the yard. Get an edge trimmer and clean up the space between the sidewalks and your lawn. It will make such a big difference; everything will look so clean and fresh. Be sure to trim back any trees or bushes that look overgrown too. When your lawn looks well-taken care of, it gives a definite boost to the curb appeal of your home.

Power Wash Your Siding

Take a look at the siding on your house. Odds are that it looks dirty and grimy. Rent a power washer or hire someone to power wash the exterior of your home. Getting all that dirt and grime off the side of your home will make it sparkle! Your friends will be impressed with how new your home looks.

Touch-Up the Paint

After you power wash the exterior of your home, look for areas that need a paint touch-up. Maybe there is peeling paint on one of your shutters. Perhaps part of the siding needs a touch up. Take a few minutes to clean up those areas. If you are not sure of the paint color that was used on your home, you can bring a chip of paint to most home improvement stores, and they should be able to match the paint color for you.

Decorate Your Door

Make your front door pop with some seasonal decorations. Consider buying a wreath or sign for your door. This will not only make visitors feel more welcome when they visit, but it will also improve your home's curb appeal.

Conceal Eyesores

If you have any items in your front yard that you don't want everyone to focus on, consider hiding them behind flowering plants or other lawn décor. You may not want your guests staring at your HVAC unit while you are playing cornhole or chatting in your yard. Find some beautiful plants or decorations that will be more attractive to your guests and place them in front of (but still a safe distance away from) your HVAC unit.

Before you conceal your unit, spring is also a great time to have your unit serviced and make sure it is performing at its full capacity. Tom's Mechanical is an HVAC service company who will come out and assess the performance of your unit and give it a tune up to get it ready for the warmer months ahead. If you're thinking it is time to replace your old, worn-down HVAC unit, then we here at Tom's Mechanical can help you too!

We can install a brand new, energy-efficient unit that will help save you money on your electric bills. And, as a bonus, a new HVAC unit will look sleek in your yard and naturally increase your home's curb appeal.

The first impression friends and family get when visiting your home is important. Take some time before spring to enhance the curb appeal of your home. Your friends and family will be impressed by the new, clean look of your home!
