Tom’s Energy Savings
- Equipment Efficiency
- Just as the fuel efficiency of automobiles has improved over the years, the energy consumption of air conditioning units has been reduced dramatically. Energy efficiency is expressed as Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratings (SEER.) The higher the rating, the more efficient the unit and the better your chances to have a lower utility bill. Today’s residential air conditioning systems are available with SEER ratings of 13.0 and more. It is important to understand that the operating efficiency of an air conditioning unit decreases with age and run-time so that a 10 year old unit which originally carried a SEER rating of 9.0 might only be operating at an 8.0 level today. FOR EVERY ONE-POINT INCREASE IN SEER RATING A CUSTOMER SHOULD EXPERIENCE A 10% DECREASE IN ENERGY CONSUMPTION! Contact Brian Lackey for more information on possible equipment savings.
- Ductwork Integrity
- It is a little known fact that the average ductwork system has at least 25% air leakage. Tom’s Mechanical will provide a computerized analysis of your existing ductwork which shows how much air is leaking and where the leaks are occurring. This inexpensive test and the resulting repairs have saved countless customers hundreds of dollars off their annual utility bills through better energy savings. Call Brian Lackey or Deanna Barnes to schedule an appointment.
- Attic Insulation
- Even if your home or business was properly insulated at the time of construction, attic insulation settles and becomes less efficient over time. Insulation is relatively inexpensive, especially when compared to its ability to reduce energy consumption and achieve energy savings. Tom’s sales staff is fully qualified to analyze your current insulation levels and make recommendations for improvement, if necessary.
- Thermostats
- Every home or business should own programmable thermostats. Today’s thermostats are actually small computers which are easy to read, easy to program and easy to operate. Customers can save 15% or more simply by replacing old thermostats with programmable thermostats. Speak with your technician or call Brian Lackey for the proper recommendation to help lower your utility bills with a more efficient thermostat.
- Energy Management Systems (Commercial)
- Businesses with more than four heating and cooling systems should investigate the benefits of installing an Energy Management System. Today’s systems are relatively inexpensive, easy to operate and provide features which previously were available only to high-rise buildings. Customers who have already had Energy Management Systems installed report substantial energy savings plus improved indoor air comfort. Contact Andrew Ray to investigate this possibility for your business.
