Ductless split cooling systems (mini-splits) are similar to a conventional non-self contained split cooling system. An outdoor condensing unit is used, but instead of distributing conditioned air though ductwork, the air handler is located within the area to be conditioned. Insulated piping is used to connect the indoor and outdoor units. Flexible and easy to install, a mini-split is the perfect solution for renovations or new construction and is particularly applicable for older buildings that can't accommodate ductwork.
