In 1960, with a booming new-housing market in North Texas, Tom Chandler decided that the time was right for his successful plumbing company to enter the relatively new field of residential and commercial air conditioning. As the city of Arlington grew, so did Tom’s expertise in the air conditioning industry. By the late 1960′s it had become necessary to separate heating and air conditioning from the plumbing operations. Tom’s Heating and Air, Inc. was incorporated in 1968. During the 1970′s, Tom’s expanded steadily, both in size and scope, entering the commercial field while aggressively serving Texas’ expanding multi-family market.

In 1981, the company’s name was changed again to Tom’s Mechanical, Inc. to reflect the broader range of services being provided. In April 1988 it was sold to Arlington businessman Rich Ashton, who continues today as president. The ownership change served the company well by infusing new enthusiasm, adding a modern management style and recommitting the entire organization to the same philosophies established by Tom Chandler more than 50 years ago. Achieving excellence in residential and commercial air conditioning is our continuing goal.
