How to Tell a Good HVAC Company from a Bad One

Posted By Tom's Mechanical || 27-May-2011

There are two nationally recognized independent rating agencies, Angie’s List and The Better Business Bureau. Angie’s List requires a small annual subscription fee but the Better Business Bureau is free and both rate service companies based on feedback received from actual customers. Depending on customer comments, companies are given a letter grade ranging from A+ to F. On Angie’s List you can read the actual comments from customers. The Better Business Bureau provides fewer specifics but you can get a feel for the number of complaints filed against a company during the past three years. Each rating service also provides information about companies which do not meet their standards.

Considering the amount of frustration most people express when asked about experiences with contractors, the investment of a small amount of time and/or money before an air conditioning service company is hired seems like a pretty good investment!
